Lascaux Horse Stone Ornament
This is a reproduction of a Lascaux Horse as I imagine it might have looked, freshly painted 15,000 years ago. Black and red oxide paint is blown and hand painted onto the stone, just as cave artists did, recreating in miniature the art techniques of the first artists.
Smaller versions of my wall hanging stones, these are sized to fit on a tree, window shade pull, lamp base, you name it. They are painted on the front only, with a "d"-ring attached to the back and a leather cord included. It is signed on the back to keep up the illusion of being a lost fragment of prehistoric art.
Airbrush, hand painting and carving on limestone.
About the stone...
The stone is a piece of limestone that is a pale grey. It reminds me of the walls of Lascaux. This ornament measures 3.75" wide by 4.75" high with a leather cord that extends up another 4".
