Lascaux Bison painting on sandstone
This design reproduces a Lascaux-style bison painting as I imagine it might have looked freshly painted 15,000 years ago. Iron oxide and black manganese are blown and hand painted onto stone, then I carve details in to the stone, recreating in miniature the art techniques of the first artists. This painting is meant to be a "fragment" from a lost cave.
Airbrush, hand brush and sgraffito on slate.
Approx. size 8.25" x 5.75”
About the stone...
This stone is called French Vanilla slate. It is dark cream with light gold.
