Dog Stone Ornament

This painting is inspired by wall paintings in Spain, a fascinating eyewitness account of a vanished world, with some of the earliest depictions of dogs. Black paint is blown onto the stone, then I carve in to the surface to create light areas and texture, recreating in miniature the art techniques of the first artists. The paint is earth pigment water based, and light fast. With care, this stone painting will last as long as the original cave art!
